Which type of controller are you trying to configure. If it is BCM-ETH, then it is just a standard null modem cable. If it is a VLX, then you have no choice but to purchase it from Alerton because it incorporates a chip. Part number is AC-2650 from memory.

I could only get the cable from my local supplier. I even contacted Alerton head office in Seattle and they would not send it to me. It took only a fe days though, 5 weeks seems like a lot.

Hah, Honeywell bought Alerton. You can buy this cable through your control products divison. This part number should be in the order system.

dsirdah,
It is from Honeywell which I bought my cable, and this is where I would be getting you one from. BTW, I am not likely to be in the same country as you.

Also, if you are really keen, you can make this cable yourself. It just has a MAX233ACWP RS232 multichannel receiver/driver chip in it. Let me know if you want the pinouts.

I'm interested in making up this cable too...just checking to see if this pinout worked out OK. Using the 20 pin MAX233ACWP 9827 - THANKS for any feedback!

OK, I see, the pinout is given for a MAX232A not the driver mentioned above. I can do that...
