Anybody tried the new brushless Makita's? How do they compare to the old ones that have brushes? Website claimes 50% longer runtime on battery. I assume they use the same battery.

I bought the 18v combo hammer drill/driver and impact from home depot. They are pretty good. When using the drill with a big hole saw or wood bits in high speed it will cut power to protect the motor from overamping if the motor stalls, its kinda annoying. It dosent do that in low speed. The impact is good, lots of power. The LED light only comes on while the trigger is pulled. My last makita the light would stay on for a few seconds after the trigger was pulled, it makes it a little harder to work in the dark.

Yes, battery's are interchangeable. They are heaver. The 3.0 ah ones that come with the LXT's are lasting about 40-50% longer than my old lith ones. And twice as powerful imo.

I did not know they have been out that long. I just heard about them. Now I gotta have one.

I just bought one, it's quieter and supposedly runs longer (TBD).
Killer deal alert: Home Dopey is closing them out for $200 with 2x 3.0ah batteries and Makita was offering a free battery with brushless tools.
