I've been researching airflow for a while. I would also start with ACCA Manual D also. I have come to believe that most residential installs have incorrect ductwork. There are numerous ways to measure airflow from relatively simple to equipment intensive. I would become very familiar with TESP (total external static pressure) TASP (total available static pressure) and friction ratios. Just keep reading and reading until the concepts become ingrained.
