While looking at the sale flyers in the Sunday papers, I saw some BB gun ads that say "Soft-Air" I'm thinking, wtf?? Then I see a clear bottle of lime green BB's. So, I'm thinking wtf twice. Imagine my surprise...
PLASTIC BB'S!!!!!!!
Where's the sport in that??
When I was about 8 years old, my brother and I and a bunch of the kids in the nieghborhood were out back shooting our bb guns, when my Mom yelled for us kids to come in. A neighbor kid was about to shoot my bb gun rifle and I waved my hand and told him to stop. I got a BB buried in my index finger, palm side, between the 1st and 2nd knuckle. Blood every where. Went inside, Dad said sitdown and where's the tweezers. Put my hand on a pillow with a towel and stuck those tweezers in the wound, fished around and dug the BB out. Put a band-aid on. Went to school the next day, found out chicks dig that kinda stuff.
Know what I learned??
Don't do that!
Plastic BB's...takin' all the fun outta bein a kid!

Yep, they even sell this one pump air model now. I bought it by accident then gave it away. Then I found the old crossman that will get stronger each pump after you pump it a few times. That gets the stray dogs out of the yard.

When I was 7 I had a .22 cal pellet gun that you pumped 10x. Its muzzle velocity was higher than that of a rifle firing .22 cal LR ammo.
At that age, I think I would rather have died than suffer the consequences my grandfather had in store for me if it was ever reported that I pointed the thing in the general direction of other people, lol.

i think the thing with air soft is they are made to shoot at people, so you can play war, kinda like paint ball.
i think its a bad idea to let a kid point a gun at anyone even if it is a play gun
now my son has had bb guns since he was 7 and made the mistake of pointing it a friend of mine one time, its really amazing how many pieces they will break into when thrown against a concrete driveway :D
when he got his 2nd bb gun he was a lot more responsible with it, guess he didnt want to have to clean up all thoses pieces again :D

Worst part was, if you shot someone, you knew they were gonna get you back, it was only a matter of time.
It was still worth it.:D

Much, much trouble with my short owner ship of a bb gun.
First day, shot sister in the ass.She was the indian.
Second day, shot all windows out of neighbors chicken house
Then shot out 4 street lights
3rd.day, no more bb gun. But sore ass from dad`s leather belt.

Well, I suppose it was a rule, but who knew for sure.
Once a frisbee got stuck on the roof.
My cousin went up a ladder to get it.
We pulled down the ladder and got out our bb guns and started shooting at him, from all angles.:D
That was many moons ago. He later joined the FBI and became a pretty big wig out in Seattle.
I think he retired a couple years back.

The soft-air guns are really gaining in popularity. They're starting to open soft-air stores around here. I bought one to play around with. There are different types of BB's you can get for them. Each has a different gram weight. The heavier ones will give you a pretty good sting. The lighter ones have more velocity but the wind really takes them off trajectory outside. The green ones are called tracers because they glow in the dark.
I've got a soft air bull's eye target in the basement and it's fun to plink at. When the soft-air BB's hit the target they stick to it for a few seconds, then roll down off the face of it and drop into a tray on the bottom.
Sometimes I'll go outside and shoot a squirrel in the arse just to watch them do somersaults.
They've got fully automatic machine gun models I'd like to try on the squirrels just for grins.

LMAO!!
I still have my BB guns from since I was 11. I have a Crossman pump and two Crossman CO2 pistols. Great for plinking at everything! I did the same thing, got bored from shooting cans one time and shot the neighbors rear windsheild out from 75 ft with my pump, then I shot out a few of another neighbors windows with the pistol, then was on my way to juvenile court...

The Crossman got broken but I still have my old Daisy pump from when I was a kid. Never see real BB/pellet guns anymore. I always wanted to get my Dad's old BB/pellet pistol though. I can't remember what brand it was.

Hope you don't live in Massachusetts, the state is trying to ban BB guns, probably because a bunch of Heating guys, as kids, were shooting everything within 50 yards :D

I learned to shoot with a BB gun, 'hunting' sparrows in the tree. I've taught my oldest daughter with a BB gun as well. I even got 1 competition style that shoots with as much velocity as a .22, and put a scope on it. I always thought they were a good way of teaching gun safety and proper handling. I know if I ever pointed mine anywhere near another person, I wouldn't have been able to sit for a week and my shotgun would have been taken away for the season as well.

Thats so stupid! Ban BB guns. Whats next.... no more pencils for kids because there sharp? I still believe that every child should have to pass basic gun safety as a part of school. My school had a gun range in the basement. No problems there for over a hundred years. Go figure.
