Installing CAC with a professional imminently. Mine is a 100 year old Victorian with plaster walls and upgraded service to 200 Amps. Frankly, I'm naive when it comes to tech/mechanical stuff and lucky I found this site. Trying to compare/contrast the benefits of the following:
A) Unico vs. Spacepak (in the case of HiV)
B) High Velocity vs. Conventional (to see what your best advice is)
C) If I were to go with conventional what brands do you recommend?
D) Do you think its fair to withold 30% of the total bill until the warm weather rolls around to ensure the system is working properly?

Both are pretty much the same thing I really dont like high velocity but somtimes you just dont have a choice,
Would it be fair if your contractor didnt do 30% of the work but wanted to be paid in full. when the job is completed and ready to run payment in full should be due, how crazy would that sound if I told you I would be back in june to finish the remaining 30% of the install but I want you to pay me in full now
Jobs that get installed in the winter by us we come back out in early spring when its warmer and do a start up for free because the charge is not going to be 100% correct if you just weigh it in, it will be close and operate fine but we just like to make sure
brand is not as important as the installer, go with what will give you good warranty and is within your budget if installed correctly all equipment will work great

Low-rider gave you good advice, consider if you did hold back money and then a year or two down the road you want there help again, do you think you will still be on there Christmas list? Also the system you choose should be discussed with the installer he can see the job and cost will be a factor.
