I am about to buy a Goodman heatpump, however I keep hearing not so good things about Goodman.
Looking on their site, it seems to be a good unit???
Does anyone really know if they have gotten better????

don't get stuck on a name brand's, equipment is going to vary by the bells and whistles that you can afford, always get the best SEER that you can afford and what suits your lifestyle
what is going to make the biggest differance is your contractor. ask around get references, cheap in not better
is this a new install or replacement? has he done a load calc? how's the ductwork?,
happy holidays

thank you for your reply, it is replacing an older unit, I am looking at a 14 seer heatpump with variable speed 3/1/2 ton for a 1546 sq feet frame home on peers. The duck work is about 15 years old. This is the only contractor that would put in a Goodman???? Everyone else just wants to put in their own brand.

I may be wrong, but it sounds like you're intending to buy the HP, then hope to get a contractor to install it. That's a bad idea.

why are you set on a goodman? i don't what to bash brands, i myself have a preference to a cetain brand. what part of the country, why a HP? like i said before don't buy a brand, hire a contractor that will do the job right the first time. let them make reccomendations, ck out the references. this will result in a win-win for both of you.

I am about 100 miles northeast of Houston, Tx. Goodman has the best price and 10 year warranty and lifetime warranty on some units. Is there some reason that these contractors do not like a Goodman that I should know about?????

As others above has said, it is not so much the name brand as the contractor.
We will not get into a what brand is better, or any type of brand bashing here.
Some have more bells and whistles than others.
Get what you can afford with the main focus on the installing contractor.

My brand is better then yours.
No, my brand is better then yours.
My brand is better then yours.
No, my brand is better then yours.
Is that what you really want to hear from us.
I hope not.
A good contractor is more important then the brand name on the unit.

No, it is not a mobile home...it is an older frame house on piers.
I will take the advice of most of you that the contractor is the most important thing to look for.
thank you all for yur help.
