XL13i Question

I have a Trane XL13i heat pump, and at the end of the heat cycle it seems like A/C comes on for a short time and you get a real musty smell. I've seen the same smell in a car when you switch from A/C to vent and steam seams to come out the vents. We called out a service man and he replaced the thermostat but this didnt help. ANY ANSWERS?

Sounds like dirty sock syndrome or pulling return air from under home due to loose or torn return line. check return line duct and if thats ok have a tech clean your evap coil and treat for dirty sox.the fan delay time needs to be reduced( I dont know if its variable speed or not)If the return duct is loose or leaky that would explain cool air on shutdown as well as smell!! ;}
