I have a Veritrac system that will not control the bypass damper. I tried to connect my laptop but didn't have the correct R 232 cable set up. Is it a R-12 6 pin straight with a converter to 9 pin serial? Can I force the damper to see if is software or hardware problems?

If it is the older style then no, not from the computer. You can jump the triacs to drive the motor each direction with 24v.
If it is the newer style then you can drive the bypass damper open and close from your computer or the touchscreen if it has it.
Only the older style can use hyperterminal to access it. Newer style has Varitrac software.

The Varitrac software is free, I believe. Use the touch screen to force a system calibration and see if that helps.
