I just got my firs Job with a commercial HVAC company. I have about 3 years doing residential service but don't have much experience with rooftops. My company is a Trane Dealer and I keep seeing a Vari-Track system and don't know that much about it. I was looking on-line and found some basic info on what it dose but nothing that really tells me how it works. Can anyone give me a little information on how it works.

Probably the first big thing that I would like to know is how do I send a basic call for heat. In residential on a no heat call the first thing I would do is make sure I had a call for heat and then walk down to the furnace to see what I had. But I am not sure with this that If I just turn one of the thermostats up will that be a definite call for heat and can count on the Furnace being in the heat mode when I get up there or do I have to send a call on more than one VAV. And I know that the Vari-Track system has gone through some changes over the years but on the older model's that just have a little circuit board inside what kind of information can I get from those DI codes.

Can anyone help. I think I got in with a really great company that knows I have a lot to learn but can anyone give me some help so I am not a total Idiot with this stuff and can at least sound a little intelligent when asking a Journeyman Questions.

on a varitrac setup for autochangeover it can take time. when the total system demand requires heat you can expect to wait a bit before the call for heat actually occurs.

are you using a tracker panel? CCP's? how are you able to look at the system?

This is good thanks. Do you have any more Info on Trane Rooftops, Preferably on the TUD and YCD modles, Thanks.

The original Varitrack system I looked at was a older modle than the one you sent me literature for, It only had a circut board in a plastic case with a row of LED lights.

From what I got from the Guys I work with there is no information I can get from one of thouse with out a CPU to plug in to it.
