Hi.
Is there such a thing as an easy to program programmable thermostat? My inlaws are elderly and would like to save a buck. Thanks for your help.

elderly people are a headache when they have a progammable stat. they have plenty of time to turn a manual stat up and down. keep it simple for them.

The Vision Pro is probably the easiest one I've seen. You can set it for 2 or 4 settings per day. You can lock the screen so they can only get to temp override if you think they'll mess with other settings.

Do elderly people actually have a schedule where they need a programmable thermostat?

I have a family of six and we just use a Honeywell T87. There is nearly always someone at home.

I would have to agree it would probably be best to keep it simple with a mecury or a non programable digital stat, but if they have to have a programable stat,I would also go with a honeywell 8000.I have replaced thousands of programable thermostats, and 2 weeks later have to return to put the old stat back on.

The greatest problem with the elderly is that they think that the higher they turn the thermostat, the faster they will get heat.

The greatest problem with the elderly is that we all hope to be one - - - but not yet!
