Frank here, I am finally gone from my last employer. He owes me so much money that I cannot deal with the excuses anymore. I don't want to give names so I won't, but I am sure your company isn't run by a guy like this. Shortcuts, cheapskating customers, unsteady work, I cannot be expected to put up with it anymore. I have bills of my own. Been with him sporadically over the last few years on the side, but was committed to him for past few months. Should have committed MYSELF. Owes a LOT of backpay to me, and I have no leverage because I was working off-the-books. I own all my own tools, cleaner license than you could imagine. In fact, your premiums will probably go DOWN with me on there. I am honest, I work hard every day, and I don't do any drugs at all. I drink one beer a week after I mow my lawn on Sunday after church. I bowl in a league one night a week, so that is the only night I can't be flexible about. I prefer to get paid weekly, and overtime is totally fine if necessary. I usually work in residential, prefer it really, and am accustomed to having a helper. I have my own if necessary. I fit nicely in an attic, but I am not a duct guy. Look elsewhere for those guys. Been in field about 10 years, technician for about 6. I own ALL my own tools, but don't have a truck or van yet. Have a car, which isn't practical, but it gets me to work. I can make this very easy...I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I don't steal equipment or tools. I don't flip out on a jobsite, flip off customers, or call in to work. I can work anywhere from 40 hours up, and I haven't been locked up. I prefer smaller companies that treat customers the right way, and I don't like having to sell unnecessary parts to cheat people. I am honest and fair when judging a system, and if you have a bonus on parts sold or a quota I have to meet you can politely go to hell. I am not going to install a new contactor if it isn't needed, or charge some nice lady for 12 lbs. of R-22 at $18 per. If you think I am not "with the team plan" by all this, maybe you should change your title from A/C contractor to licensed rapist instead. I understand how to charge someone a certain amount and that is fine, but I cannot outright lie to someone because I have these things called ethics. My morality is as important to me as mortality, so yes, I will want that crane to lift the CDU to the roof instead of me trying to get it onto the roof myself up a ladder with no helper. I can command $18 an hour anywhere I go, have been offered $22 and turned down those guys. I have references, and I get the job done. I work smart and hard, I can run a site. My paperwork doesn't get lost. You will never be short equipment. When I start with you, I am trusting that you want me and my work. You will trust me through my work and skill, and who I am as a person. We will get along, make each other money, and that is all you can ask for now isn't it?

If you are being honest, we like your type here in Denver. If you will work (and have experience with) commercial restaurant equipment and refrigeration we may have a place for you here.

Frank,

If you want to work in commercial work I have an opening in Mass.

Sounds like you had a very bad day. Hang in the trade not all contractors are thieves. It is great to see a guy with morals doing service work.

and i thought i was the only one out there that beleived in ethics and total customer service. so many company's out there worry about the profit instead of the costumers. i have been a tech. for about 14yrs on res. and light comm. 4yrs working on support equip. for aircraft. i love what i do and i am pretty good at it. recently i quit my job becuase of a egomaniac that started luv-n his money more that his company. structure within, went to hell in a hand basket. i was his top paid, top profit and top sales. but as that country song goes. you got to stand for something or you will fall for anything. i stuck up for what i believed in, he didn't like it. so i left. contractors have to realize that if you sell "trust and freindship" the a/c's will sell its self.

Sounds like he's a little lazy to me & he sure likes to make a lot of demands to his employers.

I say beware of his type.
