Hello, I am brand new to the industry and I just go hired on as a Comfort Consultant or salesman, I know alot about the TRANE equipment but not so much about the installation and what to look for as far as cumbustion air grills, chimney liners, flue pipes, and other things like that. I do know how to size the equipment based on load calculations, I am just a little sketchy in these areas. and I dont want customers calling me back cussing at me. My question for you guys is "Do you have any advice for me?"

As part of your training process, I would highly recommend going out with an install crew and see how they do their job. (hopefully they do it right) Learning the install end will help a lot on the sales end. It helps to show you what issues to look for. You should also find out what the codes require in your area, obviously. One thing I did with a new consultant was take them out back and show them different types of flue pipe, vent caps etc to they could more easily picture what is needed and what goes where.

I'd go to the Trance comfort site and down load a dozen of the PDF's for the most popular pieces of equipment you plan on selling and read them each cover to cover to be sure I knew everything applicable to the installation of that piece of equipment.
In other words, read the directions :).
