I saw and ad in a magazine months ago that was for a tool that allowed one person to cut ceilings for boots and gfrills for new installations. It was made of clear plexiglass. It allowed one to cut the holes and it caught all the saw dust and plaster scraps. One person could do this without the need for a tech to be in the attic cutting while anothe held a box to catch the scraps. I can't find the ad (naturally) when I need it.

thanks

Man, why do you have to do this to me? I saw that ad yesterday in one of my magazines. I think it was on the right page, on the bottom half of the page. All be danged if I can find it either!

Ah, for now just ask to barrow the balancers hood :)

Just be sure to put a scrap of cardboard in the bottom of it so you don't damage any of the wires, or whatever yours has it it. ;)

Actually, you mark the ceiling for the boot size and cut along the lines with a sawsall.

we also use a guy upstairs in the attic with a sawsall and one with a box down to catch the ****...

when you're a one man show that is rather hard to do. This tool eliminates the second guy.

Yeah, I feel its more productive anyway for a 2 man crew to have a tool like this. I hope that someone finds it so I can get more info on it.

Yeah, but is there one that can cut square and rectangular holes? I can't remember ever needing or wanting to cut a round hole in a cieling. :(

For Unico small holes(4")we have a basketball cut in half with a 1/2" hole in the bottom for the hole saw arbor.Nice and clean and no plaster dust in the eyes.

I have a circle cutter attachment for my Rotozip. The only problem is you need to have some one right there with a shop vac catching all of the dust. It makes a pretty hole though.

Mark is 100% right.

With the exception of Unico systems, why would you cut a round hole in the first place. Ductwork should be rectangular so that the air "washes the windows" to keep the outside temperature from getting inside. Round supplies are triple old school

I have used basketballs and 2-litre bottles cut down until I saw the Hole Pro adjustable hole cutter at a job site. An electrician was cutting more than 30 holes in a plaster ceiling for can lights and he was the first one done that day.

I bought the 12" model for mostly 9" duct holes but now see they have a 6" model that is great for Unico type high velocity outlets and for PVC pipes for the air intake and condensate lines from high efficiency furnaces.

And ever try to find a 9 inch hole saw?
