Come on. You can answer that question yourself. You clean them when they are dirty and the consequences are endless. Healthy dirtt lungs. Think about these things.

At least once a year, but there is no hard rule. If you have a dog in your house, there is dust all over.

In my house never, once a year is definetly overkill, unless you are the one with the machine for cleaning them. Then I am sure they would recommend once a month. LOL

Check in the IAQ section for more info, I think that's where it's been posted.

I personally believe cleaning ducts isn't exactly useless, but not exactly a regular maintenence type of thing either. Now, I'm all for sticking the hose of the vacuum down the register boots a few times a year to keep them clean. But beyond that the duct either
A: Shouldn't be getting dirty... use a filter and make sure the duct is sealed tight.
B: If there is dust in there it's so heavy it's already fell out of the airstream and is very likely not going anywhere.

When a duct cleaning is good is on a change out... increased airflow very well could dislodge that dust all over the house.
