I have a gortex (or gortex type ) Carhartt jacket that I have used for the last 3 years.

I use a rubber Carhart rain jacket and bibbs. The wrists have like a wet suit material that seals the erms. It is very durable. I figured I would sweat my butt off but surprizingly the jacket is well vented. Gortex would probably be the best but I would be concerned about rips and tears. Also I would end up wearing it out by putting it on when I didn't realy need to. We have a joke, if I take the raingear off of the hanger and out of the truck and lug it up to the roof it's a garrantee that it won't rain.

take a look at cabellas or other outdoors websites. gortex is your friend.

I personally use these: http://www.froggtoggs.com/store/outerwear-rainwear.html

They are super light and I wear them over my uniform.

I also keep a frog togg jacket and a set of cheap pvc pants in the van. Both have held up for 2 years and they're cheap.
