RPRICE - I'm confused, your profile is professional but your inquiry suggest otherwise.

You have a control issue, most likely minor in nature, a qualified tech can make a few diagnostics and make quick remedy. There are no consumer repairable items inside your system short of the air filter. Pls call a qualified HVAC tech.

For temporary heat, leave the stat set to ON. (fan mode)

what kind of units do you have

I have recently received my cert and started in the field of maint.I have only been doing this a short time and i admit i am in the learning stage of HVAC,My instructor advised me this web site is a great learning stage for a new recruit.I hope to further my knowledge through questions and answers from senior techs. thank you for your time

Do you have the hand tools & meters to make a few cks?

Pls ID T/stat. Heat Pump S/C?

Pls ID voltage when calling for heat from R-C R-W R-G

you havent said what you are working on. If it's a heat pump then the same relay that operates the cooling fan also operates the fan in heat mode. If it's a gas unit then why te cryptic message about heating elements? If it's an electric furnace with cooling, then you have to simply look at the schematic and tell US what controls the fan in the heating mode? We already know this but it wouldnt do you any good to not help you figure it out for yourself.

Has this unit ever run (heat) before?

rprice

yes it has run ht before,if i put sys on ht/fan it will run,it just will not run ht auto

ok...so the sequencer controls the blower in the heating mode.

Have you got line voltage in and line voltage out of that sequencer?

rprice
10-22-2006, 09:45 AM
i have volt in the seq but not out of

and....the answer is.....?????

rprice

replace sequencer

docholiday
10-22-2006, 09:47 AM
actually before you go there.... do you have 24v to the low voltage connections at the sequencer?

You need to get out the schematic: Depending on the model & vintage the fan (control)of a heat pump is either directly controlled off the G terminal or the sequencer /relay that comes off W

IF this is a HP, then you're saying the blower isn't coming on at all in the heat mode - is that correct?

Are you sure you don't have the Stat set for gas?

no,

rprice

that is corret the blower will not come on in the heat mode

docholiday
10-22-2006, 09:51 AM
no? then why not? the low voltage should be coming from the w2 or E (or both) terminals from the stat.

you have givin me some other ave's to check,i am beginning to think this could be a stat problem,so i am going to have to check the stat and get back, you have been a great help,i apologize for my noviceness, but just coming into the field out of tech school is quite a learning experience

dont appologize. I want you to learn to think it through. It's best you know whats supposed to happen and then go through it step by step. I appreciate the fact that you arent guessing your way through it.

Good luck.
