Why do some manufacturers use HSI while others use DSI?
I should think the DSI would be less troublesome than HSI.
I just can't think of an advantage of HSI unless it is cost.
Thanks...

Is there an echo in here? Been asking the same question with the same results. All I hear is HSI is getting better but even at it's best its not as reliable. I do suspect that it may because the HSI has no sound and you have to keep your parts department in business.

People can spout about SiNi all they want. We've replaced plenty of the little Nortons in our Air Ease 120V version and also in the 80v models American-Standard uses. Glad our salesman put extended warranties on our sales! I get to bill Equiguard $200 every time one fails! :)
I think our record on oldest ignitor is 18 years, on an old Preway 90. But Steve found a 14 year old silicon carbide on a blue oval this week still working...barely!
