If your test is anything like Local 392 in Ohio, you should get Start, Test and Ballance, a Mechanical Equipment Service Manual. Read it cover to cover and any other HVAC book you can find. You should be able to order this book from your Local.

are you referring to a turnout test or a placement test?
Have you gone through the apprentice program or are you trying to get in?
