Thinking about offering a customer a McQuay aircooled screw 200tons. In the past I have used Trane aircooled screws as they are bullit proof. McQuay tells me that they have resolved their compressor issues with the new version. Does anyone have feedback on the new McQuay aircooled screws?

Never had compressor issues on the ALS chiller. Had oil issues that led to compressor failure. The ALS-C vintage chiller was a solid performer as for reliability and used the same compressors as the ALS-A and B vintage chillers with the only difference being the "C" vintage units were oil injected. But these compressors were designed to pump R22, for which we all know is to be phased out soon. Just setting the record straight. All the new chillers like the ones posted by J3hall are 134a with compressors designed to pump 134a. AGS-B and AGS-C chillers are proven performers both in ease of service, reliability and sound levels in their class. I recently had an opportunity to stack a Trane RTAC up against our new AGS-DS for sound purposes and the AGS was the same sound level as the RTAC with only one compressor running on the RTAC as compared to to compressors running on the AGS. So in a nutshell the AGS with 2 compressors running was equal to the Trane with one running. Not thaty I may be biased, just want to set the record straight.

I'll fix this thread!

Stick a Trane screw in if you want complete trouble free operation. It might be a little loud but it will run forever
Plus I think the repiar parts are cheapter. I would only buy the McQuay if refrtech or screwed548 are going to service it for you. By the way York makes a nice (Loud) air cooled screw! don't know much other then its loud. You McQuay guys have donimated this web fourm too long us Johnson/York guys are now going to take over. I'll be waiting for the phone calls <--LOL

I should have never said anything. I went to work and had to change a 100 ton compressor on an RTAC. Me and another guy showed up. They had 5 air-cooled chillers. The engineer had all the pipes at 36" just like that picture. By the end of the day my back was wasted having to go under the pipes about 50 times. I'm going to find the engineer that did that and cut him a new ass-hole.
