Hey all,
I am wondering if anyone has installed a surge supressor breaker in their panel to protect the circuit the furnace is on. We've had the power go on and off rapidly a few times due to thunderstorms and it got me thinking about protecting the furnace from potential problems.
To take it one step further, what about a UPS? I have one on my computer and also on my home theater system. Seeing how my furnace is essentially a computer (Carrier Infinity system), would it make sense to UPS it too? The only downside to the UPS is the fact the the furnace is hardwired and most UPS units are designed for plugs.
Any thoughts on this?
