I have a NAE 35 that had v2.0 on it. I could access it with the web browser and upload the Database no problems. I Upgraded my Computer SCT to v2.1 with SCT manager and upgraded the database, again no problems. Then I upgraded the Image on the NAE35 to v2.1. It went smooth. I downloaded the upgraded Database with no problems.

Now here is the problem, when I use the web browser to access the NAE I get a "Device I/O error" and the Java script will not load and Explorer shuts down. I noticed after numerous tries that when it opens the NAE window I get the Java cup icon in the system tray but it appears to be the 1.3.15 version of Java. SCT v2.1 works fine and loads Java 1.5.04 fine.

I tried my spare computer without the old Java version. Loaded Java 1.5.04 on it and tried it out and low and behold it works. Saw the new datbase and everything came up fine. I tried numerous stuff with both java 1.3 and 1.5 setting with no luck. If I set the Java 1.3 advanced tab to use v1.5 it will give me a "cannot finish loading file" error and shut down explorer.

I can't remove SCT v2.0 components because I still need to upgrade/access other controllers.

HELP! Anyone had this problem? What settings should I be using?

Thanks,
Zandman

clear the jar files from the control panel, clear history, temp files and cookies from internet explorer. Restart internet explorer.

Thanks mackinaw,

I erased everything you said and restarted, then I got a blank white startup screen. Freaked me out....reinstalled java 1.5.0_04 and tried again (restarting the computer each time). This time it both SCT and NAE login works.

Hurray!

I don't know if I needed to reinstall the java or if I missed another setting?

By the way do you use the SCT manager? How long should it take to switch from 2.1 bake to 2.0? I tried it on my spare experimental computer and it took 20+ minutes with an error screen. Had to use task manager to stop it and then restarted and SCT was gone altogether! Had to reinstall SCT. Just wondering if I was premature in shutting it down? (20-30 min)? I still need 2.0 badley so wondering if I need to set up a spare computer?

Thanks again!

SCT manager takes less then 5 min to switch on my laptop. What was your error you recieved?

Hi mackinaw,

I forget what exactly the error was, I believe it was more of a warning screen but it went by so fast I not sure of what it said. While I got everything in v2.1 running I'm going to finish my current project before I do any more experimenting with switching.

I just got a new work laptop and am having trouble installing v2.0 on it. New laptops come with so much preloaded crap plus what the company IT guy put on it I'm not sure why it's not installing so I handed back to my friendly IT man to install it for me:) Normally I use my personal laptop that is barebones XP Pro. Runs great with nothing but what I load and need, on the other hand it will be nice to have a new work supplied laptop.:)

I'll reply in the future when I try switching again.

Thanks!

I believe that upgrading from 2.0 to 2.1 is allowed by JCI as a standard upgrade for a customer (i.e. they don't have to pay) you may want to check on this. Unless there is some pressing reason to stay 2.0, reflash the NAE to 2.1 and be done with it.

One of my big customers has ADS and two NAE55s. The NAEs are no problem but the ADS (v2.0 to v2.1) upgrade costs money I was told and I believe the ADS has to be v2.1 also if the NAEs are v2.1. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Plese be aware that upgrade version 2.1.24 is availible.

Install this patch on all the following models on a site:

- ADS/ADX Rel 2.1.0 or 2.1.2

- SCT Rel 2.1.0 or 2.1.2
