My boys are are 20 and 17.

I took them dove hunting last weekend, in west Texas.

I was absolutely grinning from ear-to-ear watching them hunt side-by-side.
More than once, they laughed & "high fived" each other after knocking down as many birds as they had shells in their shotguns.
(They both shoot better than me.)

Those moments are getting fewer & farther between, as they are both busy with their lives.
It just won't be long before they are both out of the house, permanently.

They BOTH stopped by my office, just to thank me for taking them hunting.

It made me grin again. :D

What have you done with your kids lately?

Nah, I didn't really think so, but that's the last walker I bought. :(

Enjoy her while she's little.

I coach my twin girl's softball team (we won the championship last spring and did pretty good for the summer season). Things are starting to slow and fall softball will be over next week. Then it's time to take them fishing.

My oldest (15) plays sax in a competitive marching band and at church. I still play my trombone so we play together at least once a week. I also try to do the occassionaly daddy daughter date night. We go out to eat and play some pool at a local family style pool hall.

Come on Dad's-what have you done with the kids lately? When I lost a daughter after only 16 days, and therefore never got the chance to do 'stuff' with her, if something happened to one of my other girls, I swore I would NOT regret not having made memories with her. Don't let that happen to you and your kids either.

My twin daughters are nearly grown now (27).
We still do "date night", but not often enough.

Good job, Dad!

For young girls 'date night' is a must. I want my girls to know how a young man SHOULD treat them on a date and giving them a good example is the best way I know how. I want my girls to have high expectations when they are looking at boys because you know I will. ;)

I'm glad you started this thread, Dad's need to know how important it is for them to spend time with the kids. My dad always took me hunting (interestingly enough usually dove hunting in west texas) and I remember those times very fondly. I haven't found good hunting locations here in OK to take my girls but when I do, they'll go with me.

I'm glad to hear you still do date night with your older girls. The things you do when they're young are great things to do when they grow up. My dad can't see well enough to hunt with me anymore but when we get together we still go fishing.

The wife and I are driving to Brownwood tomorrow to
visit the college son (3 hours from graduating from
Howard Payne U - he's on the 5 year plan).

Take in a movie, out to eat, and go to church with
him. Every moment with him is special (but he won't
admit it!)

Tomorrow, my 5 y/o daughter and I are going to help build houses for a New Orleans mission project. After the home build, we will enjoy some Krispy Kreme donuts and chocolate milk -- our favorite date spot.

I'm also a volunteer for her American Heritage Girls troop.

You've got to spend time with the kiddos.

My youngest & I spent a week in New Orleans last summer.

Underwood's restaurant is the place to go in Brownwood.
(You probably already know that.)

My baby brother spent a couple of years on staff at First Baptist in Brownwood.

We hunted about 25 miles east of Brownwood, just outside of Comanche.

Keep up the good work.

Now I have 4 adult children. All college grads and productive members of society. My oldest said, "I'm glad you taught us how to work."

This birthday they bought me tickets to the Buffalo/Patriots game which will be played on Oct. 22.
All eight of us are driving out for the game. Staying over night and all. 8 includes 2 daughter-in-laws.

I have a three year old son. His mom and I have been seperated for the past two years.(still dont know why) I pick him up every weekend and he stays with me Friday till late Sunday. We usually just hang out around the house watching Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, that kinda stuff. But I try to stay away from the boob tube with him, so we play alot of ball (foot- and base-) and we box. Im very proud of him. I have some target mitts and he loves to hit them. He actually knows his straight from jabs, hooks from uppercuts, lefts from rights. We just make every day we get together a "just for the guys" day. I'm Kinda sad now that I got a ticket and have to go to 8 hour driving school tomorrow and we'll be missing out on most of tomorrow. But first thing after D.S....we'll be back at it.
