OK, I have conceded that my beloved TurboTorch is not always the best in all situations (Air/Acetlyne mix with all the tips available A3-thru A43)

So I am in the market for a GOOD portable Oxy/Ace kit. It has to be portable and light, yet good enough for 1 1/8 and bigger etc.

What do you guys suggest? I have used a variety of torch kits in the past, and I thought they all sucked!! (Valves too sensitive, get in the way etc..)

Help me out of my TurboTorch rut (although noting beats it for just general brazing stuff, and I'll keep it on the van for those "days")

Thanks

prefer Uniweld with the smaller rosebud- can get 2 1/8 ok if am patient, I could never get used to the knobby handles on victor.
However out my part of town hvac houses carry mostly victor and only few have uniweld.

never tried any of the Star Wars gizmo tips- figure I will set the wall or myself on fire with it not used to odd curves on my tips.

one thing - would avoid that plastic Kangaroo carrier- had one snag on ladder once and dumped bottles to floor- kinda just ripped apart
get metal carrier regardless of maker- really not heavier.

Dont cheap out on some of the less expensive setups. Victor is the best. I have bought lots of them at Pawn Shops through the years. I only buy Victor anymore.

I have a uniweld, not the best, but not too bad. I wish they would have bough a vicotor set too, I used many torches and welding tips from victor and they can't be beat.

Be sure to check the welding shops, they will generally have the best deals and decent prices vs a HVAC supply house. For what it's worth, for $30 more we could have had the exact same rig only victor.... but aparently that $30 was too much.
