List,

Anyone out there attempted to add oil to an O6E compresser while either off or on? I am unable to pump down this unit without cutting into the low pressure control wiring, which I would rather not do if it's possible to pump in oil while the compressor is on. It runs at about 55psig.
Can I overcome 55psig and pump the oil into the oil pump pressure tap?

if you put it in there then you would need to over come the gross oil pressure which will be 55 suction plus oil pressure of probally 18-28 psi for a total of 73-83psi.

have pumped against 200 discharge pressure on screw racks so you should have no problem w that hand pump pictured

Those pumps were great when the oil jugs were Metal. Spend a few bucks more and get a pump with a pedestial, and a copper U tube. Its no fun cleaning up a gallon of oil off the floor after you've punched a hole in the plastic jug. Tip, before using the U tube pump cut an inch off the end of the copper U tube. Sweat a 3/8" sweat x 3/8" flare fitting on the end of the tube. When you are done with the pump you can cap it off with a 3/8" fingertite on one end and a 1/4" fingertite on the outlet. The pump fits nicely in a plastic Craftsman "Truck Box."

It may all decide to come back, so keep your eyes open and be ready to take some out.

Any idea where one might find one of these?

It's made by Ritchie/Yellow Jacket called "Max-Flow Deluxe Oil Pump" and yes they still make them!

i have taken a "clean" 50# recovery tank, evacuated it from the vapor side to draw in oil...i finished evacuating it to remove air and moisture and then hooked up the vapor side to the discharge side of the compressor and the liquid side to the suction line...system pushed the oil in great and i never had to turn the unit off!

That's the way I was taught to do it.

How did you flush the tank to make it "clean"??

First, what makes you sure oil is needed? What is the level in the site glass?
What is the net oil pressure?
