Uploading N 30 BY Project Builder

1) When I upload the N30

I receive Connection in Progress please wait
This repeats for about 40 minutes

Nothing happens
In Project Builder / Edit Site
does the Site Manager Device and Copy Holder Device
have to use the exact name as the N 30 that I
am trying to Direct connect to.

The N30 in my database matches the name of the N30

How long can it take to upload an N 30 via a null modem cable.

I've seen an N30 take over an hour to load via a serial cable. That's why I use a serial connection as little as possible - long enough to determine the N30's name, and perhaps its IP address, then it's a crossover cable and Ethernet connection all the way. N30 loads then take less than 5 minutes.

Yep, that's absolutely right. You'll enjoy the huge speed advantage by ditching the serial connection for an Ethernet connection. I couldn't imagine how long it would take to browse a device in the Sitebook with a serial connection - with an Ethernet connection, a fully loaded N30 is usually browsed in about 30 seconds.

If you are waiting 40 minutes and see the same word, then you have a problem.

You should do a test by connecting to the N30 using the direct connection you made. This will ask you for a password, enter it and see if you can get in. When you are in, check the speed you are at. Using Project builder should not take this long.

And I agree with davem that the ethernet is the way to go.
