Hey all. Just registered. I'm getting more and more involved at work working with split systems. For some reasons I'm the goto Guy because I can braze.....but anyways...
I work at an apartment complex. Both properties together are over 2000 units. So recently some people have been "forced" for work else where per say. And their work prior to what I'm cleaning up is unbelievable.
Company wants me to just cut the lines and install new condensing units that are pre ordered to match the evap.
Which is fine, only time we do that is when a hard start cap wont bring a compressor back, or if it does and trips breakers.
But,I think,I've been running into sloppy work. I got a new robinair, and at times I can pull 300-500 know problem, other times I'm looking at hours. I don't know if I'm fighting moisture or not for sure. It'd almost have to be? I've done my share of brazing, along with tig/mig and stick, so I got a good idea of what a crap weld/braze looks like.
I,chabge the oil everytime, sometimes during the vac, I also saturate the vacuum with a few pounds of nitrogen , then vac, doing that a few more times does speed up the progress getting down to 350.
I guess I'm looking for opinions if I'm possibly doing something wrong, or if this is just some serious sloppy work I'm chasing down....
To get an idea
"hey, are you purging lines before adding charge?"......
"huh? what's that? I just open the valves and go....."
:/
