I do not use Carrier. My distributor generally writes a credit when we bring back. If a problem they will charge back to us. I have never had charge back from them. You cannot regulate how far behind they are on paper work. I would be asking if they are having that many warranty issues that they cannot handle them. I cannot imagine that many warranty claims and they are behind that far. It sounds like a distributor problem or they are selling to a lot of unskilled people doing the installation of the equipment.

I agree this is at the distributor level.

Carrier warranties are being processed online now, and there is virtually no waiting period for approval. Of course, this is assuming the warranty administrator processes your claim in a timely fashion instead of leaving your paperwork in a pile.

I would ask another employee at the distributor, or even the branch manager. Be polite!..and explain your situation. 6 weeks seems extreme.

Always save the warrantyed part until you get your credit, the factory may or may not want it back.

Even from an HO's perspective, Carrier Mid-Atlantic seems to be having major problems right now. I'm having a coil freezeup problem which requires Carrier tech support. They just won't return my contractor's calls. I know he's called them several times over the past few weeks, and they just won't call back.

This is after a LONG list of supply house errors on the distributor's part, too.. not the first problem I've had that has been a distributor issue.

I am certain that my problems would be fixed by now if I was in, say, Koch Air's sales area. If I had it to do over again, even as much as I like my contractor, I'd have chosen a different brand just to not have to (even very indirectly) deal with Carrier Mid-Atlantic. I had no idea a Carrier *distributor* would be this consistently bad.

Perel,
It is also possible that you are only hearing part of the story. Either way, you can call 1-800-CARRIER. Explain your issue and they will create a service report that is sent to the distributor that requires the distributor respond to the report.

I did not know what a good distributor we were as Andrews Distributing Company until Carrier took over. I am sure the same for AES until Carrier took over. Carrier is a good manufacturer, but in my opinion, do not have a clue about distribution. Carrier is corporate, operational driven, & dysfunctional as a distributor.

Key word in that statment is "opinion." You are certainly entitled to yours just don't think that it is always correct or shared by everyone. Being in the business as long as you have, you certainly should know that not everything that a dealer tells a customer is always correct and there is often much that goes on behind the scenes that the customer never knows about.

thanks for the info. the customer is happy as can be she has cooling. if your not one of their high volume dealers, it's a mute issue. used to put in bryant and did so the first three years in business. became a ruud dealer and have been happy ever since. been in touch with manager of carrier where i got the compressor. he said that he would take care of this. yeah when carrier took over aes it went down hill. the lady i changed the compressor for is a lawyer and said she would help if need be. got my statement for last month and they charged us for the compressor. have invoice when i picked up the compressor stating warranty part. duh p.s. no more mister nice guy, there is a storm a brewing. will keep u guys and girls informed.

My comments were not directed toward you in any way....chill. This thread had gotten of subject and I was responding to that. However, if you get setup for NOW warranty, you can get your credit online immediately.
