My HVAC unit is failing and I'm shopping around for the best unit/brand for the money. I live in Kentucky and have a 2600 square foot home. We don't have natural gas so it has to be electrical. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

i would definately recommend a heat pump system installed by the best company around - to qualify they must be willing to do a Manual J calculation and show you their results. With the above you should be pretty well covered and save a bunch on your light bill.

I did this when I moved and went from 1490ft2 and $160 electric & gas bill combined to 2889ft2 and $186 total electric house. I could not believe it and was for the first time happy with a bill.

As far as the indoor unit goes there isnt a whole lot of difference in quality, unless you want a variable speed motor. If you want a basic fan motor they are all the same in my opinion. That also goes for electric heat strips. THey are all the same and all 100% eficient.

Now, where you want the quality is in your heat pump. Go with a high seer rated, I would reccomend Lennox xp19 unit. This unit will have to be matched with the proper indoor coil, so base your indoor unit on the heat pump you select.

So to recap, first select a good heat pump and then go with the Air handler unit that matches up with that. Lennox has good equipment in all price ranges.
