Have Trane 2 ton Heat pump ( XE1000 - model TWR024C100A2) and 2.5 ton evap coil ( model TWV030B140A1) under high heat load ( Dallas tx -100+ outside) . Gas charge is optimum with superheat at 5F / blower is medium speed of 3 available. Delta-T Heat rise is 16 F at 1650CFM at consenser unit so I'm not getting full 2 ton BTU's heat removal after accounting for fan motor and compressor heat . Evaporator Sticker says orfice was installed. What would be the optimum orifice size for max cooling on this non-TXV evap coil ?? To get more cooling capacity - should I increase blower speed and also increase orfice size as well?? This unit only services part of the house- large master bedroom and bath area only.

The correct orifice is the one supplied with the condensing unit. Your trane distributor can tell you which is needed for your combination. Airflow should be set for 800CFM (700 if you need better humidity removal). Make sure the condenser coil and evap coils are clean and indoor airflow is correct then have refrigerant charge verified.
