Serial number nomenclature

I was at the supply house they gave me two of the carrier sliding charging calculators but I forgot to ask if they had anything for serial numbers, for different brands and what not. Do guys have any links that I can print out?

DOH! Sometimes I just need to pull my head outta.... I meant model numbers. Not serial numbers.

I've never seen anything made up for all the brands. I used to be pretty good at it and now Bryant & Carrier have come up with a whole new system :(

Best bet is go to every mfrs website and see what they have.

Most all older units were easy to look at and figure, but now the 13 SEER units are using a different numbering system and it is hard to figure some of them. Even our suppliers are having trouble at times. There is nothing out there yet that I know of to help us. You can check the mfg web sites, but that is hard to do during the day when working on systems.
