Well, you looked so now read!
Spike Lee is about the most racist person on the planet.
I have now watched the HBO special on hurricane Katrina he produced. I went into it feeling that there must be some level of merit and injustice, I was wrong.
I have listened to hours of people whining that they were TOLD to leave days in advance and that help would not be comming soon because "we may not be able to get to you" but "I stayed and where is the help" I mean it is freakin PATHETIC.
I have listened to black people say that white people flooded them out.
This had to be one of the most embarassing films to black culture that ever existed.
FYI spike lee (neglected caps as he does not warrant the respect of them) got paid 2 million dollars to do the flick, don't take my word for it, look for yourself what mr lee contributed to hurricane relief!
He has done more for the seperation of races than Louis Farakan and farakan admits it is his desire.
Boo to lee, boo to hbo, and boo to those who hung around when an impending desaster was clearly defined and warned about.
ps: If you are one who lost all your life stuff in this disaster, I am sorry, not so much for your loss (which does suck) but more so for these weak f.cks who are capitalizing upon it. That is about all I got to say on it.

I didn't need to watch the movie to know what crap it would be. Bet he didn't remark on how many white people were devastated by the hurricane did he? Or Asians, or Mexicans, nope, just the poor black people. Wake up Spike Lee, slavery has been abolished.

Spike Lee is a racist, opportunist who perpetuates an ignorant and abhorent, base human instinct, as well as play upon the suspicions and anxieties of intellectually shallow people.

He is the same guy that sued the "spike, channel for men" because they infringed on his trademarked name... hahaha... I guess the railroad has to pay him a royalty too when ever they install new "spikes" on the tracks too , right? Yeah right!!
He eventually lost, and they took back their name, and it is still "spike, channel for men"...
His glory days are over. He was a thought provoking filmmaker is the 80's and had some very inteligent movies, but, his heyday is over, and he should just retire, and collect his royalty checks....
But like Seaton said, he probably will only focus on the Black victims in NO, and dismiss the whites, Mexicans, and Asians that where also victims...

Dang, oloe found a photo of white people stealing non essentials. What motivates such research? Republican = white male. White male republicans cite looting as reason for lack of pity for hurricane stayers. This photo is meant to debunk that stereotype.Remember, everybody, republicans are racists.

Everybody sterotypes and therefore everybody is racist to some degree including me. Some behaviorial scientists believe it is human nature and part of our survival mechanism.

Actually, that was not my motives at all. I was trying to show a picture that would convey that not all the victims of the hurricane where blacks...
No research, It was posted on another board that I frequent. And your assesment that "republicans are rascist" would be pretty offensive to all those who are not white and Republican... Look around, there are plenty of non white republicans around.

What I do not understand is the most intense part of the storm was in Mississippi. How much coverage did they get? I saw the area shortly after the storm I saw water marks in houses two feet from the ceiling. What I did not see is looting and violence I guess the worst part of the storm was not good news since the people there behaved like they were civilized.
Another thing I do not understand is why was Mayor Nagen not blamed like the governor and the President? He did not utilize the busses sunken half way in the water in the now famous pictures. He deserves a heavy dose of criticism if we are going to “blame” anyone.
One more thing and I am done. Why would you not leave when the Corps of Engineers several times reported the levees would not with stand the storm and said for everyone to leave? Then shoot at your rescuers which is pretty stupid since most of them were Special Forces or salty veterans from Iraq. And why blame your stupidity on white people? Give me a break.

Yes other areas were hit much harder by the storm itself.
Probably the places with water marks 2 feet from the ceilings were maybe thousands of feet inland. And that water went away on its own. Like you said, shortly after the storm and you mentioned you could see the water marks but did not mention that you could still see the water.
New Orleans was in trouble after the storm not during. It took them weeks to stop the water coming in.
I don't get the part about worrying about who get's covered on the news, outside of the fact that coverage may encourage people to send you aid or money.

Now I feel bad for liking Spike Lee's latest movie; The Inside Man.
Actually; I agree that he is a racist, or at least makes lots of money portraying himself as one. Makes you wonder if Spike really believes he is doing "The right thing"?

I think that the reports of shooting is urban myth. It's said that that part was cooked up by the media...

Get in touch. The N.O. Police Chief has stated that reports of violence were exaggerated. The National Guard was never able to substantiate that rescue heliocopters were fired on.

"MOBILE, Ala., July 27 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Lawanda T. Williams, also known as Lawanda Johnson, was indicted today by a grand jury on federal FEMA fraud charges, U.S. Attorney Deborah J. Rhodes of the Southern District of Alabama announced today.
Williams, 32, of Jackson, Ala., was charged in a 66-count federal indictment with making false claims to the government, mail fraud, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Williams is charged with making a number of false and fraudulent applications for disaster assistance from FEMA following Hurricane Katrina. The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Inspector General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
The indictment alleges that from Sept. 8, 2005 through May 11, 2006, Williams applied by telephone for disaster benefits from FEMA following Hurricane Katrina. Using false Social Security numbers and variations of her name and addresses in Gulfport, Pascagoula and Biloxi, Miss., as well as addresses in Jackson, Ala. and New Orleans, Williams claimed that her primary residence had been damaged. The indictment further alleges that at the time of Hurricane Katrina, Williams lived in Jackson, and not at any of the addresses she claimed as her damaged primary residence.
Williams allegedly received $277,377 from FEMA as a result of the fraudulent claims, which she used to purchase real estate, a mobile home, automobiles, electronics and other personal property. If convicted, the proceeds of the alleged fraud would be subject to forfeiture to the United States.
Williams was arrested on July 18, 2006 on a federal complaint charging her with wire and mail fraud in connection with one of the applications. U.S. Magistrate Judge William E. Cassady ordered that she be detained in custody pending trial. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean Costello is prosecuting the case."
Any guess on the total amount of money obtained by such means from FEMA? And percentage that will NOT be discovered/recovered? Woulda bought mucho armor & ammo for our troops. Or border security.

Most folks are bigots...not racists....usually a system is racist....racism usually describes holding someone back...limiting their freedoms based on race...denying them the same consideration...
If you just dont like someone for a paticular reason be it color their weight....you are bigoted.
Lets say you just plain dont like black folks.... thats bigotry.... When one of those black folks axes you for a job and you deny it to him solely on the reason that he is black...thats racism....or as the black folks call it...racisms

The mayor of New Orleans has to go down as one of the most worthless politicians of all time....between him and the governor noone should feel intellectually threatened. Those that stayed behind during that storm made a choice. A stupid choice. They then expect immediate help for themselves. There were ways out of there, just poor leadership/planning doomed that city. My personal message to Spike Lee who thinks the "white man" owes him something.....
I was never a slave owner, you were never a slave!

When I was in college I took and elective class, socoilogy. They showed a Spike Lee movie in class and then we were supposed to discuss it.
Well, the three I was with were like "It was racist for the Italian to fire that black guy"
I was like, "He delivered a pizza, went home. took a shower and piddled around on company time. I'd fire him, too, for BEING LAZY and USELESS, not for being black"

Laura Brown, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman in Washington said she had no such reports.
"We're controlling every single aircraft in that airspace and none reported being fired on" she said adding that the FAA was in contact with the military as well as civil aircraft.
But more than a month later representatives from the Air Force, Coast Guard, Dept. of Homeland Security and the Louisiana Air National Guard say they have yet to confirm a single incident of gunfire at helicopters
Likewise members of several rescue crews who were told to halt operations say there is no evidence they were under fire.
Do you have a confirmed brain?
More likely you have a rumormill in place of a brain.

I can't find anything reliable disputing that New Orlean's natives were shooting at rescue helicopters. I see plenty of coverage of the shootings being claimed, but no disputes, other then the chief of police who fled the city the day before.

There was plenty of violence, and plenty of exaggeration by the police chief.
i suppose one could say a disaster brings out both the best and worst in people.
I personally think it is really more a matter of peoples make up, not race that dictates the actions they take both before and after.
spike lee has clearly shown the type of person he is, and he deserves no respect what so ever.
