I have an Amana PTAC where the compressor is short cycling?
the compressor comes on for about 5 min then shuts off. if you turn the unit off for a few min then back on the compressor runs again? it is a sealed system and I can't put my gauges on. Any Ideas?

u can always put the piercing valve on and trouble shoot the system. If its worth fixing then evacuate the system and braze a couple of stem valves in there

The compressor was overheating and shutting down. This is a through the wall Amana PTAC. I put the valves on and the pressures seemed fine. Here's where I slap my self. I found the inside of the outer coil was blocked solid with gunk. I cleaned the coil and now the compressor stays on! Doe!
Thanks for everyones help. I'll be comming back for more.
