Hi all!
Well I'm descovering what termanology means....I THINK! I found out that the efficience tag on my OLD (40+ yers) Utica Boiler, ONLY means how efficient it is for the "Tune-Up"! NOT the whole unit! So I've stopped thinking of adding a Tankless, and stop using the coil in my boiler . I don't have a hot water heater!

I have a friend who works in the HVAC biz at the counter. I work for a contractor, so I get his price. He's been behind the counter for about 20 yrs, knows his stuff! Someone here suggested that Energy Kinetics System 2000. I didn't get a good responce from my buddy! He did suggest an efficient cost effective replacement boiler for my OLD Utica! He said the Viessmann Vitorand 100, used with a Burnham ALG40 indirect water heater. He said that it's a good deal and efficient. What do you guys think???

Many thanks, Ted

Viessmann boilers are THE top of the line boilers and their price reflects that fact. System 2000's have their fans as well. Either is an excellent choice, as are many other oil-fired boilers (Weil-McLain, Smith, etc). What i would be most interested in is the ability of the installer and whomever will service the final system. Better to go with the best installer with their preferred equipment than a Rolls Royce installed and serviced by someone unfamiliar with it.
BTW - Nothing against the Burnham (they make excellent boilers, also), but check out a SuperStore IDWH if you can. And do a heat loss calc for proper sizing - don't just replace with the same size as the old.

The Vitorand 100 is thir bottom of the line boiler with a Beckett gun. I wouldn't bother paying the extra cost for it. You're better off with a Burnham MPO boiler to go with the Aliance in-direct.

Hi!
Is the Vitorand 200 any better?
Thanks, Ted
