Just got a new Goodman AC and Furnace installed. It is cooling nicely, but I am noticing a knocking noise when the unit is running. It is just kind of a repetitive knock that cycles about every 3 or 5 seconds. Is this just something to deal with due to buying a low price brand, a normal operating sound, or is this something that needs addressing??

Either you might be getting vibrations from the compresser, transmitted through the lineset or someone's at the door.
Try answering the door and if nobody's there, call the installer back.
Not gonna say "you get what you pay for" becaise I don't know what you paid and that's irrelevent (sp). I am a licenced contractor and have been so for 5 years. Just installed a goodman into my mother's home and it is beautiful.
It's the install that counts MORE SO THAN BRAND.

I agree with the above post. Any unit on the market today can be installed to run and work fine includeing the Goodman product. I have Goodmans out there that have been running without any major service problems for over 20 years now but then again I also have yorks, sanyos, lennoxes and Tranes doing the same. Maybe that old adge should read you get who you pay for instead. By the way right now We're in tight with Trane and I gotta admit I love this product and will probubaly retire useing it but like I said they can all be installed to work just fine call your installer and have them look at your problem and I am sure it will turn out to be something simple if they did a quality install.

A noisy Goodman? What are the odds of that?
