Does anyone have issues with the low loss hoses from yellow jacket. I seem to constantly changing hoses due to malfunctioning low loss on high side hose. I do work on a good bit of 410 so that might be a factor. I use the yellow jacket because that's what the shop provides. Thank

My understanding is that YJ doesn't recommend their seal-rite hoses for 410a use.
I've switched to ball valve end hoses and am much happier with them.

interesting. I will look into that. I am to the point I wear gloves afraid to take gauges off(probably should anyhow I guess).Jp what brand hoses do you use??

I used yellow jacket low loss hoses and had trouble with the high side too. I think the low loss ends are not made for anything above 325psi. I use there ball valve ends now and no problems

X3 on the ball valve ends. Had mine for 3 years and only needed gaskets.

Yellow jacket makes ball valve end hoses, they are very nice. I think RE Michel sells them for $120.00

NRP hoses here.

Look at this. On page 4, you'll find under the Sealrite hoses:
• For R-410A, order the PLUS II™ hose with compact ball valve
and under the ball valve hoses, you'll find:
Recommended for R-410A

I use them for R22. I do change the O ring more often on the high side fitting.

Ive got a set of the low loss hoses, not even 6 months old and ive had to replace the core depresser in the high side twice.
I miss have the ball valve, when i get a set of digitals im gonna get some ball valve hoses.

I buy NRP brand low loss fittings. their cheap & last long enough to consider them "throw away" ... I don't do much 410a so am uncertain of any premature wear associated with the slightly higher pressures

I like my finger tips un frozen. I use the yellow jackets, and rebuild them as needed. I also shut the unit down to remove them. My thinking is less of a pressure drop to damage them when they are removed. Kinda like water hammer. No idea if it helps tho.

I had a high side fitting issue, it would not turn.
I disassembled it and oiled it. Put it back together and turns like new.
I have read someplace else that they are not recommended for 410A. My gripe on the ball valve handles, like a ball valve handle on a water line, they are easily moved and can dump what is in the hose. This usually happens while going from one job to the next in my case.

Have trouble with the yellow jacket low loss hoses on service valves that do not have a valve core in them. When it happens I just. Switch over t o the ball valve hoses I have. It's rare to have it happen but it does I'll start paying more attention to when it happens.

I have the NRP low loss 410 set....high side hasn't really caused much trouble.....just gotta be quick...like a bunny!
I did switch my 22 setup to ball valves though.....i was tired of flipping hoses for evacs, nitro, etc. much happier now.
If i was doin more 410 stuff, I'd probably switch to valves too.
410a mysteriously turns the little dial inside the fitting, causing it to tighten up. A tech where I work showed me how to loosen it with a stat screwdriver

Yea the problem with low loss fittings is the pressure of 410 is to high for them to hold up, that's all mywork would buy, but they keep failing on 410 high side. Stick with ball valves.

I use yellow jacket hoses with ball valves. No problems yet.

I do a lot of 410a. I just blew another lowloss on the high side. Just have to rebuild em every 2 months in the summer. Oh yeah, summer's only 3 months here anyway... I like the lowloss, they don't spray so bad when removing from highside when running.
I guess I like the bigger nut, more leverage and finger protection.

if you use the ball valves do you have same amount of refrigerant blowing

I use the black hoses from NRP and add the low loss or anti-blowback fittings that you add. Then when pulling vacuum or recovering I can take it off and go straight to the core removal tool. The cost works out about the same. I did have the low loss fitting and they were failing me too often.

I do agree with most of you here. Ball valve are expensive but so worth the money. saves your fingers and i find that i can always pump the refrigerant back into the system that are left in my hoses.
Im totally for ball valves, all 4 of my gauges have ball valves. What a difference it makes.
Ive seen the black hoses, not sure if i really need them but i hear they are good to use them while vacumming the system. Anyone here have them, worth getting or not? thinking of getting one to try it out strictly for vacumming.

@ hvac17011 very little. Much less than regular low loss fittings.
@akelesis I use the black hoses on my vacuum set. Yj Titan with the 3/8 that goes straight to the pump. I love them but it wasn't a cheap set up.
