Didn't look that much like Americans to me. Just transplants, illegals and democrats.

You should watch Jay Leno, he does a better job of showing us ourselves.

Which is my point, he and his staff walks out onto the streets of a town that isn't typical America and looks for the least common denominator. Notice that he doesn't walk around he studio audience or the cafeteria at NBC and ask those questions? They usually have ringers that find these people, determine that they don't have a knife or gun, fit their agenda and are idiot's, then they direct them to Jay.

From the looks of the map, teh guy was himself guessing where France, Korea are and never did get it right. Apparently, he, too, is totally unfamiliar with Europe, Asia, and Australia. But he's a Brit and likely works for BBC. Those guys are unconscious.

Alas, I must admit, above 10,000' I do get a littly hypoxic, but I rarely suffer from AMS. But I do bring along some diamox for that, just in case.

Right, as if the knowledge of any country, significant or not, is a waste of time, right? The USA is the only country that matters after all, right?

Thats the problem....

Well, our kids would know a lot more about geography and all other subjects if the NAACP and ACLU would stay the hell out of the classrooms. Parents also need to understand that if they want their kids to be legitimately educated, they need to make them tow the mark in school. But school has become a mere baby-sitting service while mom goes out and makes more babies to draw more welfare. Then mom's kids, who severely lack discipline keep classrooms disrupted making it extremely difficult for everyone to learn.

But everybody wants to blame the Republican Party.

Its not the kids boots its the parents and grandparents. Same mentality that makes a tourist think if they speak english real, real slow, a mexican will magically understand them

Yes, it's the parents and grand parents. The ones that think you can move to downtown Jacksonville Florida or any other major city after crossing the border illegally last month and have 20 chickens around your house and 15 people living in it and expect the new country to understand and accommodate you .

What/where is the source of the Mississippi?

Could you name and locate all 5 great lakes?

What/where was the Battle of Brandywine?

Find Nebraska on a map, bonus points if you can name the capital.

What is the capital of Missouri?

Hats off to you if you do not have to google.

That should be on a Immigration test.

I had to know Algebra, Biology and the capital of Brazil to get out of high school which I did where we spoke all English.

I probably don't know 1/2 those things now, but this is my country and I don't plan to go to Australia or Europe and hold up a world map and ask questions. I have a job.

Well I think the typical member of the WASP John Q Public would have trouble with those questions, they are all American Geography and or history. Even if they were asked the questions wery wery slowly Elmer.

So typically people are challenged knowing things about their own country and they know even less of the world around them. Would not hurt to know what it is like in the rest of the world before garnishing opinions on the rest of the world.

Brandywine would be a little tough unless you were from Pennsylvania. I only knew that it was a Battle of the Revolutionary War, because I had an ancestor who fought in it. Makes my mother a Daughter of the American Revolution.

So my ancestors were 'off the boat' before many others in the USA, does that make me more American then someone whose great great great grandfather came over after the potato famine?

Bonus question, name that tune.

Category "I'll take 'original song remixes' for 1000 Alex".

This is the music that "My Country 'Tis of Thee" is sang to.

I wasn't trying to imply kids are the cause so much as their attitudes are the effect of the special interest groups and lousy parenting.

When I was in school, if I got paddled at school (it was legal then), I also got spanked at home for having gotten the paddling. I learned early on to have respect for authority. And I got paddled only twice throughout school, both due to stupid decisions on my part. (I made many stupid decisions but got caught only twice. :D)

Point being, if kids are taught respect for authority, it will enhance their ability to learn and help keep them out of trouble with the law. (Before you go "there", there are exceptions to every rule.)

Spare the rod and spoil the child, I agree boot. I never got paddled but I did get 'strapped'. It's all Benjamin Spock's fault
