I have a Lennox XC14-048-230 that is about 2 years old. The fan won't run on its own and the High Pressure Switch keeps shutting off. When I reset the High Pressure Switch, the compressor runs but the fan does not start on its own, and after about one minute the compressor stops. I then have to wait for the compressor to cool before the High Pressure Switch will turn the compressor on again. I then tried turning the fan by giving it a push with a stick, before the compressor shuts itself off, and then the fan runs and achieves full speed. The compressor then continues to run as well and cools the house for a while. But after a while, even before the house temperature comes down to what it is reasonably set at, the fan stops again and the compressor shuts itself off and I have to go through the whole process again of spinning the fan with a stick to get it sarted after the High Pressure Switch is reset. I have ordered a capacitor to see if this will fix the problem, even though the capacitor looks fine with no leaks or buldges. Do you think the problem is only the capacitor, or could the fan be bad as well? I am happy to provide any other info you may need to help me troubleshoot this AC unit. Thanks.

Call a tech out to diagnose your problem. The unit still has a parts warranty so I would not be ordering parts on your dime.

I would like to diagnose this myself (the reason for the post) and only call a tech if I really need to. The capacitor is only $ and I suspect a tech would charge much more for labor alone. If the fan is the problem, then I may call a tech if labor charges would be less than the cost of a new fan.

1 - my fan won't run
2 - Call for professional service
3 - If you don't want to spend the dough, fix it yourself
4 - we cannot give you do it yourself advice - you may die, and we may find ourselves in court for killing you

It's a Lennox. The part will be way more then the labor.
