My first Fieldpiece meter. I hope it works good. :)

Was off a few degrees. Had to put the probe in ice water to calibrate. Good to go.

That looks interesting.
Whats the advantage of this meter? Im not too fmailiar with it's capabilities.

For obtaining accurate pressure, super heat, and subcooling readings. You can run your gauge manifold through it as well.

Ok, bear with me here...

Basically this thing is a calculator right? I mean it takes the temp subtracts (or adds) it to the refer temp and gives you a number right?

I think for most applications (residential, light commercial) it's a good bit of overkill since 1 deg isn't going to make or break the system. Now on refrigeration and critical systems I can see this thing being helpfull to help you be more accurate.

Looks interesting coolwhip ..........what did that setup cost? It would be nice if you could do superheat and subcooling at the same time but then you would be looking at a price like the digi cool and others. Not interseted in that kind of cost for something that bulky.

The only disadvantage that Field Piece has is this one meter with different clip on measuring heads. One for amperage, one for voltage, one for temperature, one for pressure, etc. If I wants to measure compressor amp draw while monitoring any voltage drop on L1 and L2 system start or any other measurements you still have to have 2 or more basic Field Pieces with the heads to do the test. Only advantage. If one meter fails you can always go to one of your other several Field Pieces.

Fieldpiece is awright, I mean a millivolt is a millivolt right? I just dont care for the autoranging - takes 3 seconds or so for it to scale up to a 480v measurment. Wit a Fluke your 3 measurements down the road already.

Wouldn't it be better to have the pressure tap on the meter's bottom so IF oil does find its way into the hose it wouldn't drain into the sensor? If this was my meter, I'd make sure to use it upside down, then stand on my head to read the scale.

every time I get something new and cool like that, I lose it

I don't know why you guys buy that stuff.

Why not buy a UEI and be done with it.

That way you won't cry when you break it or lose it. :D

Thats a cool toy, my salesman gave me one to try out for awhile, had to calibrate it to, but even flukes say in the owners manual to calibrate every thing that has a thermistor init. works good but, just takes the math out of your hands. and no you dont have to buy a new head for feild peice meter if you get the good clamp meter I think its like ss72 or something like that. I have that one, with the micron gauge accessory head, and the pyshcometer head, and the ATC3 pipe clamp. once calibrated works perfect!

I hate bursting bubbles but go ahead and throw those fieldpieces in the trash! all my techs who HAD this brand now hold flukes. To me fieldpieces are slow reacting, unstable, and dont last long. They just dont stand the test of time! I have stuck with fluke and have only had to set my 322 back as a spare due to a 40 ft drop, but it still works just have to help the jaws close a little.
I have to say I have been interested in extech meters although on the pricey side seem to have more of the features im looking for!

Mine lasted long enough for the warranty to expire!!
FP meters are not good for the Pro user,Buy the Fluke,s and be done with it.
