Hello all, new here, been reading for about 1 month.
New System put in about 1 month ago. Talked to the installing co. about a thermostat with runtime hours. He didnt know of any.
I had one several years ago, so I know they made them at one time.
Does anyone have an idea of one I could tell my installer about.
Currently have honeywell 6xxx series thermostat.
Heat pump is 3 ton lennox single stage

I know my Carrier Infinity has runtime hours. But it won't work without a Carrier Infinity Furnace or air handler.

I haven't heard of any aftermarket thermostats that have that info. IT might be easier to get some hour meters and have your installer wire them into the thermostat board.

Is this a normal request for a HVAC contractor?

Lowes or Home Depot is where I bought the one years ago. I don't think they carry them anymore, at any rate I definitely don't plan on putting it in myself.
I want the stat to monitor runtime hours (I plot daily energy usage, etc. little nerdy like that)
I dont want to change the operation, as the unit does exactly what it should now.
By the way, the installer did perform a manual J on the house. So, after reading this site and understanding what a manual J was, I was impressed.
