View Full Version : Best way to remove water trapped in air handler insulation?

My air handler flooded when the coil froze over about a month or so ago... should it be dry by now?

Is it normal for the air handler insulation to be saturated with water? I know the anser to this question is NO, but it seems like some water may miss the pan based upon the airflow away from the coil.

How do I get it out? Any simple solutions? I don't want the thing to rust through or get infested with mold.

What things can I check to ensure that water is leaving the air handler? I've flowed water into the pan with a pressurized sprayer, and it seems to drain fine. I can't see any leaks but that doesn't mean I don't have a hairline fracture somewhere. I don't see any water leaving the air handler from anywhere other than the condensate line.

Any thoughts?
