Hello and thanks in advance for your advice ...
We recently moved into a 100+ year old rowhouse in DC with a high velocity small duct AC system in place. The system never worked, so we had a brand new Unico system installed shortly after we moved in. The air handler is in the attic, and the compressor is outside.
Although the new system cools a couple of rooms upstairs very well, it does not cool the downstairs or the sunny upper rooms upstairs to our satisfaction. Can't get the sunny upstairs rooms below 75 degrees on a hot DC day. The downstairs has never been cool enough for us at all, no matter the outside temp.
How do we go about fixing this? The previous owners had capped some of the vents, which I understand is supposed to help somehow.
If the answer is that we need to work on the ducts or tweak the system, how do we go about finding a pro who really knows Unico systems? Our first installer seemed competent and has a good local reputation, but he didn't seem to do all that many Unico installations.
thanks!
