Does anyone know anything about a product called Super-Freeze 22a Refrigerant? They claim "Super-Freeze 22a, a HC-based refrigerant, is a blend of environmentally safe hydrocarbon fluids designed as a direct replacement and retrofit refrigerant option for replacing R22 refrigerants in residential and commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems. 22a operates at lower head pressures and offers improved cooling properties and performance compared to R22." Their web site is:

That is very interesting.
Hope it proves to work okay...

Dupont has an R-22 replacement however, it is somewhat less efficient than R-22.

It is nothing more than propane.

And that's safe to use in an AC unit? Are you kidding me?

Are there any other better R22 compatable or replacement refrigerants? What is the recommended approach for repairing older R22 systems?

Welll, I haven't heard of anyone doing refrigerant retrofits on home HVAC systems.

R407c is commonly used as a retrofit for larger, commercial HVAC applications.

Typically, if you want to upgrade your home unit, you would upgrade to a R410a unit.
