What nut setters

What nut setter sizes do you need or use.

I was thinking about buying the 2", 6", and 12" sizes 1/4,3/8, and 5/16? What would you recommend for installs and service o.o

I keep a 1/4", 5/16" & a 3/8" in my pocket all day i think they are 2 3/4" long. i have a 6" set in my tool kit but i dont use them much. I do service most days and find the med length ones the most useful

I have 1/4" and 5/16" ones, both 6". I use them both everyday for service and LOVE them. If I did installs and tin knocking I would definitely use the 2" ones.

DeWalt, impact rated nutsetters, 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16" and 1/2", a 2" extension and an 8" Irwin locking extension, all ride in the Veto.

Do nut drivers have to be impact rated if you are using an impact? I have seen many guys using standard nut setters in their impact?

For every day stuff, I carry 6" x 1/4", 5/16", 11/32", and 3/8". I'll probably take the 11/32" out of the tool bag. The only time I ever used it was on fractional HP condenser fan motors, and I haven't done one of those in at least 4 years, lol.

i have deep sockets with adapters welded on to fit in my kwik change 3/16 thru 9/19. they sure are a time saver . the 11/32 is real handy if your doing a lot of motor work. i also carry 4-6-& 12 in. extensions & a 90 degree.
milwaukee driver. you never have too many tools.

Nutsetters, maybe not so much.

I use a lot of phillips screws and, yeah, you want impact rated phillips bits unless you want to hammer and drill out broken bit tips. I broke 4 in a row one day, ruined 3 of the screws to the point that they had to be ground off and drilled out.

Bought impact rated bits and I've only broken one in 2 years.

I've had my eyes on those for a while, now.

I've dealt with too many universal joint type thingies that bound at certain angles, though. Do these do that or is the angle limited to a point where it cannot bind?

What do you call the nut driver bits and the nut drivers with handles?

Thats why I call them nut setters so you dont confuse the two.

I have been using these for over a year! I just about can't function w/out them. I keep an 11/32 Nut Driver (Notice Proper Use of Name :angel:) in my instrument case, for motor replacements. The 1/4 wobble goes in my impact and the 5/16 wobble goes in a 6" Irwin extension in my Rear Guard Pouch, Best tool belt ever! Makes climbing thru scuttle holes possible.

They don't bind in the slightest. They do sometimes snap into the straight position on you when you're trying to manuever them onto a screw head with one hand. As they wear in that isn't as much of an issue.
