I just inheirited this unit. I know someone will think I'm wasting my time with it but I like cool old tools like this. I tried it out on a 120v compressor and the unit works fine. I was wondering about 240v. It says to use the cord adapter but it was missing. Is it just a 240v plug on one end and a 120v recpatcle on the other end to plug onto the cord or is it really something special. The co. That bought out Imperial no longer handles anything or has any "tech help" for this.

3 wire "cheater" cord, 3 big alligator clamps wired to a female 120v plug. clamp on for your 230 volts and plug into it.

Ed is right. That's how they were shipped.

If it is the model I think it is, there are four wires with alligator clips coming out of the box.

RED, WHITE, BLACK and GREEN.

Be very careful, the green wire is NOT a ground.

It's wired to a capacitor bank, and will knock you silly if you hook it up.

I learned that the hard way. :(

Take it apart, and verify before you use it.

Thanks guys! I did have it apart to check the wiring to make sure everything was hooked up. Had to resolder a resistor on one cap. I'll check that green wire to make sure!!

I learned that the hard way. :( Me too we had one in school and i was starting a compressor had one hand on the left side of annie and right hand on the the other side got a big jolt from hand to hand through my body In my truck I have the modern annie made by some other company to this day i dont trust it i use a tool or something to flip the switches I got that jolt over 35 yrs ago.
