I have a customer where the TXV located within 2-3 inches off the condensing coil, drips copious volumes of moisture into the spinning ECM blades. Trane uses a small slanted drip edge behind the condensing coil but the TXV is still catching moisture and drops fall outside the edge and are sucked into the ECM blades.

For a simple solution I am proposing to wrap the TXV into a small polyfoam pocket and this would allow the condensation to drip directly down (pocket jacket is open at top and bottom) into the pan. If that's a bad idea then I could place a small thin section of styrofoam, just enough of a piece between the TXV and the ECM motor so that water would run down the styrofoam "wall" and into the pan and not get thrown into the ECM blades.

Due to local humidity (at close to 90% outside, OD temp 89F) the system is removing in stage 1 lots of moisture, it's a veritable river coming out from the pan and system is keeping house at below RH below 50%, so it's working fine otherwise.

the "jacket" you're proposing would likely elevate the TXV temperature a bit, so not sure how it's function would diminish or if it would malfunction but if you can create an open jacket on the side of the coil it may work.

I've only seen this one one system but nothing was done about it

insulate the TEV.
