Passing this on at the request of the OP thru a mutual acquaintance ( guess it's important to mention that to avoid copy right infringement, any way, enjoy).

I just bought a new Appion CRT 2 days ago. How do I know if it has the new and improved plunger? And if it doesn't, do i just contact Appion and send it in for a replacement?

That video shows an amazing ammount of information that is impossible to explain to someone in words alone ( vacuum portion ). Imagine all of the varriables ; hose size , oil condition , moisture content , leak rate of connected equipment , actual effort from the pump , leak rate from the isolated valves , ( other scientific aspects of ambient conditions that my limited education will not allow for consideration ). Oil condition and connected hose size have the most influence on time from what I know. You could pull faster with a TEZ 8 , but not without changing the oil as many times as needed as to " improve " it's condition.
And the most important part is " isolation from the process " . This is where all other CRT's fail , they will not isolate and show the true results of the vacuum that was achieved. You can have an awesome pump , 2 inch hoses , and other brands just leak up from my experience. I wish that CD , YJ would tell me to mail mine back to them so that they can fix them , and that gasoline would be a dollar a gallon again. - Live Free Brothers t45

I am a new Appion customer. I picked up two 3/8 (supplier could of at least kissed me before he collected:censored::grin2:)
Expect 1/2 hose and Appion CRT from another supplier who gets all my tool and instrument business.
If the Appion CRT make me half as happy as Fritz and the other guys on this board, I'll buy a second CRT from Appion.
Right now I am still cool with my C&Ds ...I have had my new ones for about two months. They have ball valves. I was using the old packing gland valve style and made the change to ball valves.
My new C&Ds hold a vacuum of 300 microns no problem. Granted, I don't do 1 hour standing leak checks on a 410 system ....I am more inclined to have a higher degree of confidence in a standing press test which I do perform.
But at any rate Fritz deserves kudos for his efforts to further and improve our industry and educate some folks along the way.
Fritz, look forward to your C&D video.
Let's step on some more hornets nests ....the results are very dramatic my man.

Watched beginning, middle (saw Sarge :p) and end.
Fritz that jump you saw at isolation was trapped gas in the ball valve.
When you're pulling if you open them mid way towards the end or work them open and closed you'll see less of that jump when you close the valve.

Either it grips the core or it doesn't.

Hey Fritz you can let Eddie know that thing on the 11N1 is a busted core remover but I never had a use for it either.
Maybe you could get them to put a 1/8" or some other size allen key on it instead. They wouldn't listen to me. I suggested getting rid of the square drives for some allens and they said no cause the crazy canadians would go ape **** :grin2:

Thanks itsiceman,
I wasn't sure what it was going to be used for. I can't remember ever breaking a valve core and I have been in the business for 20 years now. At least it's there in case I do need it I guess.

If it grips the cores, then it's working. If not, contact us and we'll arrange an exchange... we will either need the old plunger, or a proof of purchase. Either way, call or email us and we'll take care of you.
