if you do a search, you will find a lot of results on here.

Biggest thing about this is COMFORT and QUIETNESS.

It's VERY important that the system is sized for the home and ducts.

The benefits of 2 stg in both a furnace and AC is operating costs. Both furnace and AC have a high and low stg and normally run most of the time in low stg.

The benefits of var speed blower is as follows:
1.improved dehumidification in AC mode

2.quieter-I doubt that you will hear system operating

3.improved room to room temp comfort

4.better operating costs-DC var speed blower much less expensive to operate than conventional AC motor

5.Better indoor air quality if new system is equipped with whole house air filter cabinet.

Tiger is right but:

1.Yes ,but having great contorls is needed to get the most out of the system, like Infinity Control or at least close to it.

2.Yes ,if the ducts are sized correctly.VS can move more air in an undersized duct system,if you have one ,then your old system.More air = noisier.

3.Yes,due to longer run times in low stage.

4.Lower motor operating cost ,IF the ducts aren't too small.

5.Better filters are more restrictive, and often require duct system to be modified to accomodate the extra restriction,if not they cause they same issues as undersized ducts.
