Thinking about getting a sman 3,you guys that have or had them do you recommend or not,and what are they going for,are they and every job kind of tool or do you use them for new installs only, had a digital manifold from aireco that lasted less than a year, went bad, couldn't find the receipt ,out 500 bucks, just a bunch nervous about investing that kind of bread again. Now I buy my tools thru work so they can keep trac of the receipts for me.

I have two now. My only complaint is the plastic knobs that are easy to replace with metal ones.

I dread the thought of not having it now. Makes the job alot easier.

Johnstone supply has them on sale. Grab one fast.

That's not a bad ballpark,I can understand not putting some price out like for service work or parts prices, but tools, seems silly

It's the rules and I don't want to get suspended. I like it here. I wanna stay.

Yeah I agree with you, don't break the rules,I like it here also. I just thought that not mentioning prices is to protect business owners so that their customers can't sat something like I know how much you paid for that part and why do you want to charge that much for it. Not to keep a tech in the dark about tool prices. Thanks for the info, I have jonhstones #. Will call them this week, found one in annapolice,md

Well don't forget that Johnstone has several customers(AKA your company and mine) and their price varies depending upon the deal they have with the customer. For customers who purchase large amount of products from them they get better deals. So if I get a multiplier of .7 and you get a multiplier of .5 and i see your price then I get mad and stop using them and so on.

So it protects more then just the non-technicians.

Your correct,I've never even heard of jonhstones until I found this site,I usually call around several places before a make a purchase of this size to get the best price I can find.i also know that larger company's get a better price than the two man operation I work for, which kind of sucks that it applies to the tools of the trade because most company's don't pay for a techs tools.

We can't put prices on here.

The prices of tools get posted all the time in this forum.

Well one thing I've learned over the years, most supply houses will sell tools to Techs for reduced prices, if the tech is paying for the tools out of their own pocket.
