Hello,

I was doing a search on Google and found this forum. I was hoping some one could give me some advice.

I recently purchased this home 2 months ago. It has a Trane XL1800 Heat Pump. Today I looked at the thermostat which I think is a Trane Baystat038a and the only thing it had on the display was "AC".

After tinkering with the controls I realised that it wasn't going to do anything. I reset the breaker (flipped off and back on) for the unit which didn't do any good. 10 minutes or so later I looked at the thermostat again to find that it was totally blank.

Any chance there could be a simple solution to this like rebooting the thermostat? :)

Thanks

It probably read -AC, which means no alternating current power. If stat has battery backup, battery may be dead by now if blank.

Thanks for the replies. I left my volt meter at work and didn't feel like sticking my tounge to it so I checked everything else out. The unit outside is in great shape so I looked at the unit under the house.

Even though it is sitting on blocks up off of the ground, the bottom inside of the unit was covered in mud. There I seen some sort of wiring terminal that was covered as well. It looked like it was highly possible something shorted out. :(
