I recently requested info on building the dream home HVAC system and got lots of great info that I'm working to put in place. Now I hope to do the same for my work office.

I work for a government agency that has a 60's era, single story 5800 sq ft concrete building (foam covered roof and block walls) that's in need of a new HVAC system. We are all very conservation minded and are interested in what elements (from a commercial angle) could be included into this new system to keep it energy efficient while increasing the comfort level. We currently have a single speed rooftop Carrier unit that is trying to fill an ever changing environment, from a time when there were no computers and single glazed windows, to upgraded double pane low E windows, lots of computers, printers, and the like as well as newly renovated spaces that demand more of the system than it was designed for. Often we also use a noisy dehumidifier to increase the comfort. Needless to say, we are in steamy N.FL. and our open bath vents don't help.

I would appreciate any comments on helping to immplement the best compontents and or features to reach our goal of having a effecient even cooled and humidity controlled system.

Thank you much.

LOL I wish :D

First question:
Are you going for LEED Rating and if so what level
What type of system do you have existing, and do you like that type of system or do you want a complete overhaul and redo
What is your budget and what is actually possible

What type of controls do you have, or do you have any in the first place

A quick guess before your answers

4-RTU's you can go either , Heatpump, gas/electric or Geothermal

now that would be the standard way and cheapest :)

OR , you can go with a single RTU or Dual RTU with VFD, and a VAV system. Along in that custom RTU/airhandler you can have installed, Dehumidifier, Humididfier, and your personally fancey of Air Filtration

OR etc etc..... there is a million different ways to go
we could use more info on what you want , and any preference in whos equipment you want , but wich is a mute points since as a goverment builiding you will get what is cheapest :( but if designed right can be in a quility way and do what you want and need :D
